Get Involved
The William R. Minor Library and Study Centers in Managua, Nicaragua can be a great opportunity for anyone wanting to do some short-term or long-term volunteering. If you have a skill, a trade, a talent, a hobby, or can tutor, and are able to commit three or more months, the library would be a great place to share it with others. Also needed are English as a second language instructors, and good story tellers (readers.)
The Foundation is always looking for donations of new and used Spanish language children’s books. If you know of a source or would like to help find and collect books, please join in with us.
The Foundation is also in need of Spanish language educational software; Encyclopedias, Geography, Math, Typing, English… If you have any recommendations or connections for obtaining these kinds of programs we’d like to hear from you.
Dell Computers
The cost for each Dell all-in-one computer, including the 15% tax imposed by Nicaragua, is $650.00. The libraries are always in need of more computers.
Library Books
Most families in Nicaragua do not have access to a library, and because so many Nicaraguan’s live at or below poverty level, few own a book of their own. The average cost for the Foundation to purchase a book is about $10.00. Every dollar or book donated is an investment towards affecting the lives and futures of the next generation!
Used Laptops
Cleaned, refurbished laptop computers that are three years old or younger are precious gifts to give school teachers or university scholarship students.
